#1 Google Form as Formative Assesment

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone,

Today, I handled a short quiz with my Form 4 kids.

I usually do the test traditionally - find the questions, send it for riso, let the students answer, procrastinate to mark, return the paper, discuss and record the marks and repeat it for the next classes.

Google Form - A lifesaver for evaluating students

Before this, I only knew that Google Form can be used to collect responses, event feed backs, fill in the forms and etc. But, actually we can also evaluate students and instantly mark the test using it!

This is where the button actually exists haha

Take the Quizzes button in Settings

I had created the questions fitting what they had learned in class. It was a 40 minutes test with 30 marks. The test comprises of 20 marks of Objective questions and 10 marks for subjective questions.

This is what the questions look like. You can view it online here

The students log into their personal account using their username and password. As the link is a bit long and tedious to write, I asked them to get the link from my Padlet.

Link to my Padlet is here

Drawbacks

1. Technical glitch

It was a bit hassle during the start of the class as there are few computers that cannot connect to the school's Wifi. So, teacher had to use Personal Hot spot to enable them to go online. Some PC were also broken down, so there were few students who had to take turn using the computer.

There were a few students who forgot their Google password which make it hard for them to get into the Padlet. This was solved by using other's email and password.

2. Subjective questions are sensitive-case

Some students complained about the questions that they answered correctly turned out to be wrong due to sensitive-case which I ended up to remark this question.

Positive feedback

1. Go Green

Teacher will usually print the question sheets which includes many pages for a number of students. However, this online test saves the usage of paper and encourage people to go green 💚

2. Time convenient

Saves times as teacher does not have to spend time marking the test as everything is already done by Google hehe. Discussing the answer won't also be a problem because after the students completed their test, the correct answers will be displayed.

3. Students love it!

Well, not to deny, today's generations are very immersed in technology. So, the idea of doing this test by online makes them a bit excited.

All in all, this Google Form is a must for teachers.
I hope that this entry benefits you! 💘
